BOARDS
CHURCH COUNCIL - This is the basic decision-making group of the church. Meets each month to coordinate events of all other church groups. Hears reports of all committees. Plans the mission and direction of the church. All members are welcome to attend.
STAFF/PASTOR/PARISH RELATIONS - Deals with all matters pertaining to church employees including the pastor. Must be appointed to this board by the Nominations Committee. TRUSTEES - Trusted members who meet each month to oversee the mechanics of the church. Administers scholarships. Takes care of church buildings including organizing clean-up days. Oversees all legal matters, trust funds and insurances. Monitors building use. Must be appointed to this board by the Nominations Committee.

COMMITTEES
ALTAR GUILD - Makes sure all is ready for worship each week. Changes paraments per church calendar. Makes sure all equipment is brought out and in good working order for special events and baptisms. Decorates the altar for Sunday service. Assists with wedding rehearsals and weddings.
CHRISTIAN OUTREACH - This committee is concerned with the social needs of members, the community and the world. Invites speakers to give lectures on social concerns. Encourages recycling. Informs the congregation of opportunities for ministry such as Blanket Sunday and Tools of Hope. Coordinates committees who will serve at the soup kitchen.
COMMUNION STEWARDS - Prepares the altar for communion each month.
EDUCATION - Oversees the education programs within the church. Plans curriculum for Sunday School classes. Trains adults working with youth. Coordinates youth events.
FELLOWSHIP HOUR - Responsible for coffee hour after 10:00 am church service on Sunday. Makes coffee and tea to be ready after church service. Provides juice for youth (No red or purple juice please!) Brings snack and milk. Puts out coffee cups, stirrers, sugar milk, etc... on coffee table. Puts out basket for donations. Cleans up area after coffee hour is finished. Puts donation in envelope and gives to counters or office. Sign-up chart is located in Wesley Hall. Instructions are available in the office or by the sign-up chart. FINANCE - Oversees all financial aspects of the church. Counters - Counts the weekly offerings. Treasurer - Pays bills, keeps record of expenditure. Financial Secretary - Records all income. Auditors - Reviews all financial records of the church annually.
GREETERS - Welcomes worshipers to church services. Sign-up chart is located in Wesley Hall.
LAY READERS - Assists the pastor in the weekly worship service.
MEMBERSHIP - Responsible for all aspects of church members. Keeps track of membership records. Welcomes visitors and new members. Reaches out to those with whom we've lost contact. Coordinates 50-year Member Celebration.
MEMORIALS - Oversees expenditures of money given in memory of departed members.
NOMINATIONS - Meets to decide which members should serve on various committees.
STEWARDSHIP - Helps members understand their obligation as stewards. Coordinates fall financial campaign.
USHERS - Official aides for all church services. Seat those attending church services. Assist with needs of parishioners before and during worship services. Collects offering.
WORSHIP - Responsible for Worship Services Plans special worship events. Discusses and implements changes in Sunday worship services. Coordinates worship leaders. Plans Lenten programs.

PROGRAMS
EDUCATION - Responsible for all youth and adult education programs.
Nursery - Provides a safe and loving environment for youth under the age of three. We are always looking for caring people to work in our nursery. All adults wanting to work with youth must attend Abuse Prevention Training.
Sunday School - Programs for children and youth each Sunday morning. We are always looking for caring people to teach our youth. All adults wanting to work with youth must attend Abuse Prevention Training.
Confirmation Class - For youth in grades 8 and 9 leading to church membership. Offered on alternate years. Led by Pastor and an assistant.
Disciple - Program of intense Bible study lasting 34 weeks. There are four Disciple programs plus a special Youth Disciple program. Classes usually begin every September.
Thursday Morning Bible Study - This program involves short term Bible studies. New classes usually start every six weeks.
Short Term Studies - Offered intermittently on a variety of topics from Bible study to ethical issues. MUSIC - Responsible for all musical offerings within the church. Chancel Choir - For adults and older youth. Rehearsals are once a week. Choir sings each week during worship service, and at special events. Bell Choir - For adults and older youth. Rehearsals are once a week. Plays hand bells for special services and events.
During the summer months soloists and other special music presentations are welcomed.

FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
FUND RAISERS
Tag Sales - This event is held in the Spring and Fall. Help set up and price items brought to church. Work during tag sales in various areas. Help clean up area after tag sale. Yankee Peddlar Fair - Annual fund-raising event held in November. Help set up and decorate church. Work during the two-day event in various areas. Help clean up church after fair. Various Dinners - Includes Pork Roast Dinner in November and Chicken Barbeque in Summer. Donate menu items. Help set up Wesley Hall for event. Help clean up Wesley Hall and Kitchen after event. SENIOR FELLOWSHIP - Meets each Thursday for fellowship and service. All seniors are welcome. KIT (Keeping In Touch) Club reaches out to members who are unable to attend church. Sends care packages to troops overseas. Reaches out to other Senior Fellowship groups. Invites various speakers to lead programs for the group. Takes many day trips.
UNITED METHODIST MEN - Meets once a month usually on Saturday. Supports mission projects of the church. In charge of making cemetery boxes for sale at Yankee Peddlar Fair. Coordinates Pancake Supper for Ash Wednesday. Plans Memorial Day Parade Hot Dog Sale.
UNITED METHODIST WOMEN (RUTH CIRCLE) - Meets once a month usually on last Tuesday of the month. Supports mission projects of the church. In charge of Bake Sale for Yankee Peddlar Fair. Plans Memorial Day Parade Bake Sale. Coordinates special events such as Mother-Daughter Banquet and Father-Son Banquet. Coordinates Guidepost Sweater Project.
YOUTH GROUP - For Middle and High School Students. Meets once a week. Serves at church functions wherever needed. Supports mission projects of the church. Takes many day trips.
